Barbershop harmony singing started in Norwich 50 years ago this year, and Fine City Chorus will be celebrating the golden anniversary from now until the end of the year with a variety of events.

On Sunday 13 July some of our singers will be at Sheringham heritage railway station to sing to passengers and the public on platform 2. This is because the North Norfolk Railway is also 50 years old this year!

The NNR re-opened Sheringham station with its first public passenger train on 13 July 1975. On Sunday we'll be helping the railway enthusiasts to celebrate with songs from across the decades, before a special train steams off at 2pm to mark the day the Poppy Line re-opened.

This year, Fine City Chorus achieved our highest-ever score from the judges in the annual national contest organised by the British Association of Barbershop Singers and held at the Bournemouth International Convention Centre.

So, just as North Norfolk Railway is steaming on, we are singing on successfully after 50 years!
